The Korean carmaker, Hyundai has showcased the fuel-cell electric vehicle NEXO at Auto Expo 2023. This car was already unveiled by the car manufacturer at the Auto Expo 2020. The new NEXO is a smart-looking crossover that looks futuristic as well as traditional.
The crossover comes to have a pump that forces hydrogen from the fuel tank and oxygen from the air straight into the fuel-cell stack, where chemical reactions convert those gases into electricity and water. That electricity formed goes into an electric motor which gives the power to drive the car. It also offers a 15.6 kWh battery in order to store excess energy from the fuel cell and allows recouping through regenerative braking.
Speaking of the outside, the Nexo gets Hyundai’s signature front grille, a new split LED headlamp setup with LED DRLs at the top and a triangular headlamp setup on the front bumper. It also offers a floating roof, triangular-shaped rear windows, integrated flush door handles and a new five-spoke alloy wheel.
On the inside, the Nexo offers a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and a 7-inch digital cluster meter. It also has a creel sound system with subwoofer, powered tailgate and sunroof. The upholstery is made from non-leather materials, while floor mats and ceiling liners are made from bio-waste of sugarcane.
The Nexo has a fuel cell of 95 kWh which generates 161 bhp of power and 395 bhp of peak torque. The company claims that the crossover accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 9.2 seconds and gains a top speed of 179 km/h. Moreover, the power to the wheels is from either the battery or the fuel cell stack.
