Maruti Suzuki hikes prices by 1.9 percent for selected models

MSIL (Maruti Suzuki India Limited) has recently announced that the company will increase the prices of its selected models by 1.9 percent. The hiked price will be effective from September 6, 2021 and will be applicable on the selected model’s ex-showroom price. The new price list along with the model list will be disclosed soon by the company.

During the previous month, Maruti Suzuki stated that it would hike prices of its models with respect to an increase in input cost and manufacturing cost of vehicles. This for the third time that the automaker has hiked prices of its vehicles in 2021, recently applied during April 2021. In addition to this, the ex-showroom price of the brand’s hatchback Swift and CNG models were up by INR 15,000 in July 2021. Furthermore, the company recalled over 1.81 lakh units of the petrol variants of its models Ciaz, Ertiga, XL6, S-Cross and the Vitara Brezza manufactured between May 4 2018 to October 27, 2020 last week.

The company also recorded a sales dip by 8.7 percent last month with 1.03 lakh units of passenger vehicles retailed in the domestic market. Whereas, on the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has become one of the top selling compact SUV in its segment with 12,906 units sold during last month.
