Tata Motors is prepping to launch, it’s new micro-SUV, the Tata Punch. An image revealed the production spec which was earlier known as the Tata HBX. The Punch becomes the company’s smallest SUV and is to be placed below the Nexon.
The production specifications of the Tata Punch looks similar to the concept showcased at Auto Expo 2020 and adopts the company’s own design language of the big SUVs like the Harrier and the Safari. As per the released image, the SUV gets the front bumper and the body cladding from the Tata HBX concept. In addition to this, the Tata Punch also features squared wheel arches, upright stance and heavy cladding which give the model an SUV-like look. Furthermore, the front bumper also features Tata’s signature Y design motifs along with a pair of fog lamps and gets a set of stylish 16-inch alloy wheels.
On the inside, the Tata Punch gets a free-standing 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, square shaped air con vents, three-spoke steering wheel, part-digital instrument cluster along with a digital tachometer, analogue speedometer, HVAC controls and much more.
Based on the Tata’s ALFA architecture, the Tata Punch is expected to offer 2 (Two) 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine. The lower variant gets a naturally aspirated unit similar to that of the Tiago and the Tigor producing 83bhp whereas the higher trims are expected to get 1.2-litre turbo-charged unit similar to the Altroz iTurbo. Both the engines are mated either with a 5-speed manual (MT) gearbox or an AMT transmission.
The prices of the Tata Punch is expected to start under the INR 5 lakh segment and once launched it will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Nissan Magnite, the upcoming Hyundai Casper and Renault Kiger.
