The compact and midsize segment of the SUVs are gaining popularity in the Indian car market especially in youngsters. As of date today, Hyundai Creta tops the list of the midsize SUV segment followed by the Kia Seltos. Other car manufacturers are prepping to join to list soon. So this year a few SUVs launch are much awaited which will rival the likes of the Creta and the Seltos. Let’s have a look at the list of upcoming SUVs.
The Czech car manufacturer, Skoda Auto India is all-set to introduce the Skoda Kushaq for the Indian market later this month and the deliveries of the same are expected to start from next month. The upcoming SUV is based on the similar platform of that of the Volkswagen Taigun, MQB A0-IN and will offer 2 (Two) engine options for its customers: a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine producing 115bhp and a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 150bhp.
Volkswagen is also planning to introduce a new SUV in the Indian market, the Taigun which is based on the same platform similar to that of the Skoda Kushaq, In terms of powertrain, the upcoming Volkswagen SUV will offer the same options as that of the Kushaq: a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine and a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine. The Taigun is expected to go on sale in the coming months this year.
Though the Hyundai Alcazar will not directly compete with the Creta and the Seltos, but lots of buyers will prefer the Alcazar over the Creta, as it will offer 6-seat or 7-seat option for its customers. The upcoming 7-seater of Hyundai is all-set to launch on June 18, 2021 and will redefine premiumness, comfort and versatility for an unrivalled travel experience.
Mahindra will launch its SUV, the XUV700, sometime around the festive season this year. The XUV700 will get both petrol and diesel engine along with manual (MT) or an automatic (AT) transmission options. As compared to the Creta, the upcoming XUV700 will get more premium features along with 6-seater or 7-seater options alternative to all the 5-seater midsize SUVs in our market.
MG India is preparing to launch the petrol version of the ZS EV for the Indian car market later this year. The upcoming petrol version of the SUV is expected to be named as “Astor” and will be launched around Diwali this year. As of now, the company hasn’t revealed the technical specifications or features of the upcoming SUV.
