Hyundai Creta MT
Successfully launched in March 2020, second-generationHyundai Cretagets engines including the 1.5-liter diesel. Hyundai Creta MT engine is offered with a 6-speed MT or 6-speed torque converter unit. The Creta takes on a 6-speed MT with a 1.5-liter diesel engine, with the ARAI boasting a fuel efficiency of 21.4kmpl and an average mileage of 18.13kmpl in our tests.
Honda City MT
Fifth-generation Honda City with a set of 1.5-liter petrol and diesel engines, the diesel engine only gets a 6-speed MT. This powertrain combo has made the diesel-powered sedan one of the most frugal models we tested in 2020.
BMW X1 AT
BMW X1 is the only luxury model in the list of most fuel-efficient cars. It is mated to a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine mated to an 8-speed AT gearbox. What is surprising is that even though it is a luxury SUV, its mileage on the highway has crossed the fuel efficiency figure of 19.6 lakh kmph.
Jeep Compass AT
Jeep introduced the diesel-auto powertrain on the Compass. The 2.0-liter diesel engine comes with a 4×4 drivetrain for a 9-speed torque converter unit. This powertrain of the SUV offers an average fuel efficiency of 14.01kmpl. It has ranked fifth in our books as the most frugal diesel car of 2020.
