The French car manufacturer, Citroën started its India operations in the country back in 2019 and launched the first SUV in the form of C5 Aircross across the country earlier this year and now the company is prepping to introduce its new SUV in the B-segment which will make its global debut on September 16, 2021.
The automaker mentioned that its upcoming offering is “designed to attract new customers from strategic regions”. According to the company’s C-Cubed programme for the Indian market, the next lined up model is expected to be a B-segment SUV and we hope it to make its way to our shores as well. The codename of the upcoming SUV is C21 and is based on the brand’s CMP (Compact Modular Platform). The testing has already been commenced in India and is being prepared in a way to make it more affordable and competent in its segment.
The upcoming SUV is expected to get a distinct styling on its exteriors similar to its elder sibling. As per the spy shots, the SUV will feature a split headlamp setup, squared-off elements on the bumpers along with the side body, roof rails, alloy wheels, a chunky plastic cladding around the wheel arches and more.
Mechanically, the SUV is expected to get a 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with either a 5-speed manual (MT) or an automatic (AT) transmission. The Citroën compact SUV when launched will rival the likes of the Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger and Tata Nexon.
