Diesel nears Rs 80 mark

Diesel is rapidly moving towards Rs 80, it was just 5 paise less, leaving transport transporters 65% as transportation costs. The price of diesel was increased by 20 paise and it was Rs 79.42 per liter at city pumps. The price of petrol has also been increased and it is currently Rs 89.33 per liter.

Transporters have demanded that the government rationalize taxes on diesel keeping in mind the price of crude oil and reduce its prices according to the international market. Bal Malkit Singh of All India Motor Transport Congress said to bring uniformity in the pricing of diesel in the country, diesel should be brought under the GST regime and the diesel price should be revised.

Singh added that a common man and the transport fraternity are burdened with diesel hikes in these difficult times of financial devastation. There is no reason for the hike in diesel prices right after the election.
