Compact SUV segment sales grew strongly by 95 percent in February 2021. The compact SUV segment has become the second largest segment in the country in terms of volume, with sales of 54,850 units last month as against 28,169 unit sales in the same period last year.
The popular Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza emerges as the best-seller in the segment, followed by Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet in second and third place respectively.
One of the biggest carmakers in the Indian car market, Maruti Suzuki sold nearly 11,500 units of the Vitara Brezza during the month of February as compared to 6,866 units sold in the same period last year, registering a growth of 69 per cent. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza facelift is powered by a 1.5-liter K-Series petrol engine that produces 103bhp and 138Nm of torque.
Hyundai Venue topped the list with a few units. The automaker reported 9% growth in India last month with sales of 11,224 units. Hyundai Motors had sold 10,321 units of Venue in India in the same period last year. The Hyundai Venue offers one diesel and two petrol engine options.
The Kia Sonet is the third best-selling compact SUV in India with sales of nearly 8,000 units in February 2021. The Sonet is offered with three engine options including a 1.2-liter petrol engine, 1.5-liter diesel engine and 1.0-liter petrol-petrol.
