New Honda City e:HEV hybrid – All you need to know

The Japanese automaker has finally unveiled the new Honda City e:HEV hybrid in the Indian car market and the same will be manufactured in the country itself. Honda Cars India has commenced the bookings for the new hybrid vehicle starting with a booking amount of INR 21,000 and is expected to go on sale next month.

In terms of engine, the new City e:HEV offers a 1.5-litre Atkinson-Cycle DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine along with 2 (Two) electric motors and an advanced lithium-ion battery. The petrol engine generates 97bhp and a torque of 127Nm. Whereas on the other hand, the electric motor generates 107bhp and a peak torque of 253Nm and the electric generator motor produces 94bhp. As a whole, the new hybrid produces 125bhp against a peak torque of 253Nm with a fuel efficiency of 26.5kmpl.

As for the transmission, the City e:HEV is paired to an e-CVT hybrid system that offers 3 (Three) drive modes – EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive. Furthermore, the new model is potential of channelizing any electrical energy via braking also self-charges the Lithium-Ion battery pack with no requirement of charging the battery manually. Also, the driver can change the deceleration to 3 (Three) levels using the deceleration paddle and without stepping on the brake pedal.

As for the features, the new City hybrid is loaded with 37 Honda Connect features and also works with the smartwatches. In addition to this, the model is also equipped with one-touch electric sunroof, LED interior room lamps, ambient lighting and much more in order to enrich the driving experience.

Speaking of the safety features, the Honda City e:HEV gets 6 (Six) airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system with deflation warning, hill start assist, Honda Lane-Watch, vehicle stability assist with agile handling assist, multi-angle rearview camera, ISOFIX compatible rear side seats with lower anchorage and top tether, and much more.

The new hybrid City has conserved the styling elements from its existing ICE version of the fifth-gen model. The new model will be offered in 5 (Five) different colour options – RADIANT RED METTALIC | METEOROID GREY METALLIC | PLATINUM WHITE PEARL | LUNAR SILVER METALLIC | GOLDEN BROWN METALLIC.

On the exteriors, the new Honda City e:HEV will feature a blue H-mark logo in order to highlight the hybrid nature. Moreover, the vehicle will also get full LED Headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. 16-inch dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels, Z-shaped 3D wraparound LED taillights, rear bumper diffuser, truck lip spoiler, L-shaped turn indicators and more.

On the inside, the new hybrid receives two-tone ivory and black interior theme along with contemporary seats wrapped in premium leather upholstery, a whole new center console with a utility tray, an electric parking brake, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 7-inch full HD colour TFT meter and much more.

In terms of warranty, the new City hybrid originally comes with a standard warranty of 3 years unlimited kilometres. Additionally, the customer can also opt for a 5 year warranty plan and an anytime warranty of up to 10 years starting from the date of purchase. Furthermore, the warranty of lithium-ion battery will be for 8 years or 1,60,000 kms (whichever is earlier) from the date of purchase.
